What it is

What’s really holding sales back?

Most sales problems are not effort problems. One salesperson builds rapport easily but struggles to confirm the sale; another finds plenty of prospects but loses customers after the first order. The assessment shows exactly where, so training goes where it pays.

It shows you

  • Strengths across the eight stages of a sale
  • The stages where sales are lost
  • Where to focus training first
  • How strengths differ across your sales team

It is not

  • A test of how hard someone works
  • A script to follow word for word
  • A fixed verdict on anyone’s talent
  • On its own, a reason to hire or reject someone

The eight competencies

Eight stages. Where do your sales slip?

Every sale moves through the same eight stages. Strength in one doesn’t make up for a gap in another.

  • Preparing

    Ready to sell

The right mindset, a professional presence and the tools to do the job.

Strong sellers walk into every conversation prepared.

  • Targeting

    The right prospects

Choosing the right markets and the right prospects, and the best way to approach each.

Strong sellers spend their time where the best buyers are.

  • Connecting

    Credibility and trust

Making first contact and earning both credibility and trust.

Strong sellers make buyers want the next conversation.

  • Assessing needs

    Needs and wants

Finding out what to offer and how, by asking good questions and really listening.

Strong sellers ask more than they tell.

  • Solving

    The right solution

Presenting a solution, with stories and demonstrations that fit what the buyer needs.

Strong sellers match the offer to the need, not the other way round.

  • Confirming

    The commitment

Gaining the buyer’s commitment to go ahead: what used to be called closing.

Strong sellers ask for the business with confidence.

  • Assuring

    Keeping customers

Delivering on promises after the sale, so customers stay and come back.

Strong sellers turn first-time buyers into loyal customers.

  • Managing

    Follow-through

Following through on the sales process, the account and your own time and pipeline.

Strong sellers keep every opportunity moving.

FAQ

Questions about Sales IQ Plus

Who is it for?

New and experienced salespeople, sales managers, and business owners who sell.

How is it different from DISC?

DISC shows a salesperson’s behavioural style: how they communicate and what they need from others. Sales IQ Plus measures sales skills across the eight stages of a sale. Many sales teams use both.

Can we use it when hiring salespeople?

It can show a candidate’s sales strengths and gaps. Use it as one input alongside interviews, references and a track record, never as the only reason for a decision.

Can the whole sales team take it?

Yes. Comparing results shows who is strongest at each stage, and where the team as a whole needs training.

How often should we take it?

Repeat it after a period of training and coaching, to see which stages have improved and what to work on next.

How much does it cost?

It depends on how many people take it. Ask us and we will give you a clear fee.
